THE Sauce

This is THE perfect base for any tahini sauce. What we love about this recipe is the fact that it’s super simple to make, delicious on its own, but is the ideal base to layer on other flavors and ingredients! INGREDIENTS
¼ c Seed + Mill Organic Tahini (any of our flavors are great here)
¼ c lemon juice
3-4 tbsp cold water
Pinch of salt and pepper

STEPS
1. Whisk ingredients together in a bowl until smooth and creamy (it might take 1-2 mins to get the right smooth consistency, don’t panic if it doesn’t look perfect straight away). You can add additional tahini to thicken or more water or lemon to thin out!

Now, feel free to layer it up!

Our favorites include: 

Extra seedy: 1 tbs mix of black and white sesame, flaky sea salt and 1 tbs olive oil 

Make it herby!: ½ cup finely chopped green herbs 

Give it some umami: 1 tbs white miso, 1 tbs maple syrup 

Hot & Spicy: 1 tbs hot honey 

Tart (now, this is our real fave!): 1 tbs Greek yogurt, ¼ tsp sumac, 1 tbs olive oil!

"These are a take on my MIL’s Oh Henry!® bars, a fantastically chewy and flavorful bar cookie, that gives off plenty of the caramel/peanut/chocolate vibes of the actual candy. That is due to a slightly nutty oat base that is briefly cooked on the stovetop, baked, and then topped with a chocolate glaze. They were on regular rotation when my husband was growing up and I’m still jealous about that. Here, I’ve given them a little tahini makeover (usually they call for peanut butter) and I’m pretty darn excited about it."

We had a lot of fun making these skewers with the vegan kelp “meat” made by our friends at Akua! Anything that involves a grill, warm weather, good company and delicious whole ingredient food is going to keep us happy!  

We paired these skewers with a vibrant, herby tahini sauce that is perfect as a skewer dipping, drizzle sauce, salad dressing or crudite dip!
